jmw-dec17-newsletter-snowbaby-imageI am feeling all over the place. I am starting to feel cluttered in my mind and in my home and as a result, I am also feeling anxious. I am assuming that both feelings are interconnected but I honestly don’t know.

The holiday season is usually a time of great excitement, so I am wondering if that has something to do with it. In all honesty, I would like to feel more relaxed and at ease with myself…but it doesn’t seem to be happening.

I need help and I am hoping you will be able to give it to me. I don’t want to get sick and I certainly don’t want to create an accident because of my emotional state. Thank you

Dear Lorraine:

Thank you for sharing where you are. I am sure there are many who are feeling the same way. The holiday season often finds people feeling anxious and sometimes out of control. When that happens to you, take several deep breathes in and relax. You are in control of your behavior and emotional state. Remember that!

Do not allow your circumstances to dictate your life. How do you do that?

1. When you recognize that anxious state, immediately try to shift your energy. Think of something that is calming and relaxing.

2. Change your focus—a short prayer or mantra helps me center and ground myself and it definitely shifts my energy.

3. Daily morning meditation ( even for a few moments) will help set the mood for the day.

4. Clean up your space—whether at home or work. Physical clutter is the breeding ground for mental and spiritual clutter.

5. Good eating habits and regular exercise are vital for your overall state of being. Junk food weights you down in more ways than one and keeps you sluggish.

A brisk walk once or twice a day will help you stay balanced. I find this process important for my personal overall healthy state.

6. Get a good night sleep – that is not silly but absolutely necessary for maintaining a healthy state of mind.

All of the above takes discipline and effort on your part. There are certainly times in my life when I want to give into my lesser ego self, but I truly know and understand that if I want a healthy and balanced life and if I want to enjoy the abundance that life has to offer, I—no one else—it is “I” who must decide what choices I honestly need to make to reach my desired outcome.

Honoring your Feelings through Trust

I love my partner but I do not trust him. I feel as though he is not being honest with me. Dear Sierra:

I believe I understand what you are saying. I often say that it is important to trust what you are feeling. Our feelings are like a radar system that if you understand them correctly they can steer you in the right direction. The key for you is to heal what emotions are coming up for you. The only person you can control is yourself, so the point to make is how do you want to deal with this and other situations. If you are feeling betrayed, what outcome do you choose so you will feel honored and respected.

November 19 Newsletter - jmw-finding-trust-imageI also suggest that you sit down with your partner and have an open and honest communication with him. You need to get really clear with yourself and what it is you do not trust in your relationship and talk with him about it. Is he covering up something so as not to worry you? What are the reasons? This is also a great time for you to look deeper at this relationship and your mutual commitment with each other so that you understand what is working and what is not. You both need to decide to come together and work through this situation before something happens

I also strongly suggest that during this time you take care of you—your emotions, mental attitude and physical wellbeing. Work on gaining clarity of what is coming up for you and why you are in this situation. This is a great lesson for you in becoming more honest with yourself and your life. As you make a deeper commitment to you, you will also be honoring your feelings.

Are your emotions running your life?

joyWhat brings you joy? Imagine if everyday you focused for a few minutes on remembering a “joyful moment”. What do you think this would do for you? How do you think you would start to feel if you kept this up on a continual basis? This one simple tool alone will help you out of a great deal of stress and anxiety and of course it will definitely help keep you in balance.

What brings me great joy is when clients share with me how happy they are working with me. It is such a gift for me to hear from someone that I have helped them make major shifts in their life in less than 5 weeks. But when I encounter anxious moments, I close my eyes and see with my heart.

I was speaking with a dear friend recently and we were talking about how much “courage” it takes to clean your emotional house. I certainly agree. It is not easy to see and then release your past experiences; however, the freedom that you will gain is priceless.

As we are preparing for 2010 some of us are getting ready in a conscious deliberate way while others are just going along in life and accepting what comes our way as if we are dragging a heavy weight on our shoulders. We must make a decision– what are you doing to prepare for your life today and in the future? Remember we have free will!

Living your present moments in a joy-filled experience will heal you and I might add is one of the greatest gifts you can give to yourself. As this year is beginning to come to an end and a new decade is dawning, I hope you will take control of your emotions and choose the feelings that you want to experience.
