I agree that many people are running their lives based on the hurts they endured as a child. However, I don’t think it is just a matter of telling someone to act as an adult in order to be able to co-create a healthy life.
Very often when someone has suffered wounds from the past, the little child within needs love, acceptance, and comfort. Continuing the pattern o feeling judged will only cause that child to rebel and act out. When that child feels safe, he or she is much more able to relax and let the adult lead.
