Are you embracing or chasing dreams?

Posted by Intuition Girl

There is a difference. Some of us have been successfully able to transform our dreams into realities. The difference between those who have not and those who have, is whether or not dreams were being chased or embraced. What’s the difference, you ask? If you are chasing your dreams, more oft than not, you will end up with pipe dreams – dreams that you want to achieve but unattainable because you are just chasing them and not making them happen for you. When you embrace your dreams, you have a keen understanding regarding the requirements to achieving those dreams. This means that because you are prepared to make the long haul to realizing your dreams, you are going to do the homework that goes into laying your foundation.

For example, if you want to achieve a particular career, the essential step is establishing the end goal: Are you being realistic about the specific professional path? If you want to be a famous singer or musician, you understand that it typically takes years of hard work and commitment to gain celebrity status. If you want the career because you have a love for music and singing, then perhaps you may wish to pursue a teaching career in the arts; or maybe performing locally at fairs, trade shows or in theaters. Perhaps, in this particular case, you may want to work toward writing music and lyrics for already established musicians and lyricists to get an idea on how to achieve your own dreams. You see, there is an understanding that while you may not become rich and famous overnight, you can at least have alternative options at the ready should one path lead you to another.

The same holds true for any and all dreams. You must have several options from which to choose. If you narrow your vision to much, you set yourself up for disappointment. If you broaden your vision, you open yourself up to many doors of diversity. In doing so, you often discover a true appreciation and love for the many aspects of your chosen field. The trick is not limiting yourself to just one vision, but expanding that vision to be all inclusive.

When you embrace your dreams, you also learn how to expand your network to connect with others who may be able to help you in your endeavors. In some cases, that may mean becoming more skilled in your area of expertise by taking additional vocational classes or attaining a higher degree in college. In other instances, it may mean that you need to become an apprentice to others where you can acquire the proficiency in doing what it is you do.

Don’t forget to educate yourself in more ways than one. If you are embracing your dreams, you are committed to learning every last detail needed to realizing them. If you are simply sitting back and waiting for the magic to happen then you may be forced to wait a long, long time for it. You are the spark that will ignite your dreams. When you challenge yourself to do more, you become more. Stop chasing your dreams, embrace them. Make them a reality.
